@Katie Ferguson says her greatest accomplishments are marrying her husband, Brandon, and becoming a mom to their incredible daughters; Izzy (6), and Gabby (3).
Her professional background is in Journalism, Marketing and Communications. She became interested in homebuilding;
"about 15 years ago when I met some of the happiest, smartest, and most interesting people who were not only passionate about how they lived their lives—but what they did for work. They loved building new homes and communities, and doing it together. They had a deep commitment to not only the business but educating the younger teams (me) about how to build a good home, community and business. They were some of the best in the industry and I learned A LOT from them. Still friends with most of them today."
Katie is currently serving as the co-president of the NEWSTAR: Sales & Design community (along with @Joella Smith ) and says she loves a good challenge. She finds great reward working with her team and others to create better experiences and better lives.
- What is your advice for starting out in the industry?
- Learn everything you can about this business including what it takes to build a good home. Get out into the field, shake hands and ask questions. Explore new ways of business and understand the importance of relationships. Engage. This is a small industry… take what you like, leave the rest.
- What do you think is the biggest challenge the homebuilding industry faces today?
- Land, inflation and supply chain shortages.
- What are you looking forward to most in the next 5 to 10 years?
